As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I first met Louben Repke while working together at Cypress Creek Physical Therapy – located in Severna Park. I’ve watched him grow from a Physical Therapist Technician to Personal Trainer and Registered Nurse and more recently to an owner of a Personal Training Studio (Repke Fitness). On numerous occasions, I have observed him working with clients and I can tell you there is a big difference between his training approach and that of other personal trainers. I was extremely impressed with his level of knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and his ability to implement, modify, and adapt an individualized and effective exercise program. It was far beyond many “one size fits all” models.

Whenever I had a patient who required a safe and effective workout, without hesitation, I transitioned them to Louben. I wouldn’t only recommend my patients and friends to him – I’ve also trained with him. It was refreshing to work with a personal trainer who truly understands disease pathways, co-morbidities, and impairments. As an Endocrinology Nurse Practitioner, I am taking care of patients all day long who are struggling with diabetes, weight and other endocrine disorders. A lot of my patient visits revolve around the importance of daily exercise and diet modifications. At the end of the day, I found myself to face the biggest struggle, adhering to what I teach my patients – myself. I am normally a thin person by body type, but that did not make me fit or healthy. After signing up with Repke Fitness I have made fitness and health at the top of my priority list, not just my patients. Louben is an excellent trainer. He works with my weaknesses and goals, and tries to create the best fitness plan for me. He’s not just a “gym buff” who may not know the proper body mechanics when it comes to strength training. He knows how the body works, and how to achieve results while maintaining safety. I have referred patients to him as well, as he has been successful in getting patients to lose weight or get off medications. The best part about him is he’s very personable and genuine. I have been practicing medicine for over 25 years. I specialize in treating patients who suffer from pain. With the varying degrees of pain that my patients have, I know that a majority of them would benefit from regular physical activity. Louben not only has the knowledge and background to train anyone with limitations but he has the ability to motivate his clients. As a former professional soccer player, I encountered several injuries. A few years ago, I injured my knee and had to seek physical therapy. After completing PT, I decided to train with Louben because I wanted to get back in shape and to prevent re-injuring myself. Louben has exceeded my expectations as a trainer, going above and beyond to creatively work around my knee injury. He not only helps me, but he helps my patients as well. As a physician, I am well aware of the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Exercise has been an important part of my routine, not just to stay in shape but for the stress-relieving benefits, it provides as well. Last year, I was fighting Achilles injuries in both legs. My usual home workout routine was causing further pain, so I stopped. My daughter, who works out with Louben Repke, suggested I try personal training. I had never before considered it. I have enough stress at work, so I wasn’t looking for more during a workout session. What I wasn’t expecting was a fantastic workout experience. Louben’s nursing background and experience working in a physical therapy office make him uniquely skilled in providing a challenging workout that is geared completely toward the individual. He takes into consideration your goals, any health issues you have and still provides diversified workouts that give amazing results. If you want to lose weight, he will help you achieve that goal as well. Now that my fitness has improved and I am seeing results, I come to each session ready to work hard. My Achilles injuries have improved as well. The environment is friendly and geared towards self-improvement. Louben keeps the workouts exciting by constantly adding new exercises. I look forward to each session, knowing that I’ll feel on top of the world for a couple of days!

One of the hardest parts of any fitness routine is starting one and maintaining it for the long haul. Here is where this private training facility shines. I never imagined that a one-hour workout could ever be considered “fun.” This coupled with a clean, friendly environment that delivers results makes it easy to come back. Louben’s time doesn’t end with the workout session. He gives his clients advice on how to continue their fitness plan and diet strategies between sessions. As a physical therapist, I hold a high degree of expectation from a personal trainer. I have partaken in many training sessions from personal trainers at larger gyms such as Gold’s Gym and LA Fitness but always found the sessions subpar. I was very impressed when I trained with Louben at Repke Fitness. I’ve known Louben for three years and not only is he my trainer of choice but he is my choice for all of my patients. As a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP), I know how important daily exercise and physical health impacts my life as well as the lives of my patients. I was looking to work on my own personal health goals and I searched various gyms and personal trainers in Severna Park, Pasadena and Millersville area. It was important for me to find one that could offer me individualized training, as I have a repetitive injury to my left hip (having surgery a few years ago) and it requires careful attention.

My decision to train at Repke Fitness was initially based upon its reputation for attention to individualized workouts and the fact that it is not the usual gym atmosphere. After joining, I learned the benefits are so much more. I am an avid hiker and since starting at Repke Fitness, I’ve had huge improvements in my physical strength and endurance, my usual hikes have now become easier and I find myself looking for more challenging trails. I really appreciate the diversity in Sara and Louben’s training styles and even more so the fact that every workout is different (some days I pour sweat and some days leave my muscles sore the following day). This is particularly important to me because my motivation and commitment to staying with a workout routine is easily sidetracked by my busy professional and personal life.

Sara and Louben keep me motivated and they are extremely accommodating to my sometimes chaotic schedule. I LOVE Repke Fitness! If I didn’t have to work and had the time, I would work out there 5 days a week. I highly recommend Repke Fitness to anyone who’s ready to transform their life whether through weight loss, physical strength/endurance or just getting healthier- especially to anyone with an injury who’s looking to start or restart a fitness regimen.

I highly recommend Repke Fitness to anyone who’s looking for highly qualified personal trainers in the Severna park and Millersville area. I have been working out at Repke Fitness for about a year now and I absolutely love it! The biggest draw for me was that all their personal trainers had a degree in the field and understood the musculoskeletal system and knew how to work around injuries (I have a few aches and pains these days). The second biggest thing for me was their availability, they are very accommodating and work around my schedule. As a physician, I’m always on call and my schedule changes literally every week, so finding a place that could work around that was a big plus. The third reason for me was proximity to my Office in Severna Park. In the past, I had tons of excuses as to why I didn’t exercise such as lack of time, places are too far, etc. but these guys eliminated all those excuses.

I love the environment at the studio, it’s clean, private and welcoming. I’ve trained with all the trainers there, they are creative and unique in their own ways. My workouts are never boring and changes regularly to challenge me. They have the knowledge, they are personable and know how to give effective workouts for various injuries and medical conditions. I consistently train 3 times a week at Repke Fitness and plan on being a client for life! If you are looking to get in shape give Repke Fitness a call, you won’t regret it!
