The next chapter

Cardiac rehab ends. Your heart health doesn’t.

Hospital cardiac rehab programs are supervised and structured, and they are one of the best things you can do after a heart attack, stent, bypass surgery, valve repair, or heart failure diagnosis. But they end, usually after a set number of sessions, and many people are left wondering how hard they can safely push on their own.

That is where we come in. Once your cardiologist or cardiac rehab team has cleared you for exercise, we help you keep going: building strength, improving endurance, and getting back to the things you love, at a pace that respects your heart.

Safety you can see. Our studio has an AED on site. Repke Fitness was founded by Louben Repke, RN, a Registered Nurse who supports our most complex cases, including clients coming out of cardiac rehab. Our certified trainers bring physical therapy clinic experience and are comfortable working with heart conditions.
How we train you

Steady progress, never guesswork.

Start from your rehab notes

Bring your cardiac rehab discharge summary and any limits from your cardiologist. We build your plan from there.

Intensity guided by how you feel

We use the talk test and a simple effort scale, plus your heart rate if your doctor gave you a target range, to keep each session in a safe zone.

Strength, not just cardio

Resistance training, done right, helps with everyday strength and blood sugar control. We introduce it gradually with careful breathing and no breath-holding.

Gradual progression

Small, steady increases week by week, adjusted around medications, fatigue, and how you are feeling that day.

Coordination with your care team

With your permission, we are happy to share progress with your cardiologist or primary care provider.

An AED on site

Our studio has an automated external defibrillator, and our team knows where it is and how to use it.

Private and welcoming

No crowded gym floor and no one sizing you up. Everyone in our studio has their own trainer, so nobody is watching but your coach.

Certified, clinically experienced

A Registered Nurse founder and certified trainers with physical therapy clinic experience who are comfortable working with medical conditions.

Close to home

Questions

Common questions.

Is it safe to train with a personal trainer after a heart attack?

For most people who have been cleared by their cardiologist, yes. We start conservatively, keep intensity in the range your care team recommends, and progress gradually. Always get medical clearance first.

Do you have an AED?

Yes. Our Millersville studio has an AED on site.

Is this a cardiac rehab program?

No. Cardiac rehab is a medically supervised program run by hospitals and clinics. We are the next step after it: certified personal trainers, led by a nurse-founded team, who help you keep progressing once you have finished or been cleared.

What should I bring to my first session?

Your cardiac rehab discharge summary if you have it, your medication list, any heart rate or activity limits from your doctor, and comfortable clothes and sneakers.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Often, yes. Heart conditions are a common reason training qualifies with a letter of medical necessity. Here is how it works.
