Why lifting matters

Muscle and bone are worth protecting.

As estrogen drops during menopause, women lose bone density faster, and muscle gets harder to keep. That raises the risk of osteoporosis, fractures, and the slow loss of strength that makes daily life harder.

Resistance training pushes back. Research such as the LIFTMOR trial found that supervised, progressive strength training improved bone density in postmenopausal women with low bone mass. The key word is supervised: good form, the right starting point, and gradual progress. We explain more in 4 reasons women in menopause should lift heavy weights.

Coached by women who get it. Sara, our co-owner and head trainer, is an ACE certified trainer and health coach who has lost and kept off over 65 pounds herself. She works with women of all ages and stages and leads much of our nutrition coaching.

Questions

Common questions.

Is heavy lifting safe if I have osteoporosis or osteopenia?

It can be, with the right progression and supervision. We start light, focus on form, and avoid movements that load the spine in risky ways. Talk with your doctor about your bone density results, and bring them to your first session.

I have never lifted weights. Is it too late to start?

No. Many of our clients start strength training in their 50s, 60s, and beyond. We teach every movement from the beginning.

Do you help with nutrition?

Yes. Basic nutrition guidance is included with every plan, and Sara offers detailed nutrition coaching for an added fee.

How often should I train?

Most women do well with 2 or 3 sessions a week. Your trainer can add homework workouts in the Repke Fitness App for the other days.
