Yesterday was the first day of spring. How are you feeling about your resolutions today? If you have been working faithfully with your trainer at Repke Fitness and eating well most of the time, chances are you’re feeling pretty great about shedding your heavy coats to reveal a slimmer physique. This season is going to fly by as quickly as they all seem to do, and summer will be here before you know it. If you want to feel your best this summer, renew your resolutions and skip the spring excuses.
Daylight Saving Time Messed Me Up
Typically, it only takes a day or two to adjust to the loss of one hour. If you’re still feeling out of sorts because of Daylight Saving Time, it’s time to assess how well you are resting. Because the sun is up a little bit longer every day, our bodies are not always ready to unwind at our designated bedtime. If possible, waking up and going to bed at the same time every day is helpful in maintaining a routine, and beneficial for your wellness. Be sure to stop consuming caffeine several hours before your scheduled bedtime. Plug your phones and tablets into the charger and keep them away from your bed so you are not tempted to waste time on the Internet. In the morning, you will be forced to get out of bed when the alarm rings, to turn it off. Once you’re out of bed, it’s easier to stay up and start settling back into your routine.
I Can’t Workout Because Allergies…
Okay. Allergies can really make people feel miserable, but this isn’t a reason to give up on exercise. According to an article from Men’s Health, running can reduce allergy symptoms like a runny nose, sneezing, and congestion. Researchers in Thailand discovered that these symptoms were reduced by up to 70% after runny nosed runners hit the treadmill for 30 minutes.
Summer Is Far Away
Hmm. You have exactly 3 months from the day this blog is posted until the first day of summer, but clients of Repke Fitness know that Maryland weather doesn’t play by the calendar. There are likely going to be some hot and humid days before the calendar reads “First Day of Summer.” If your goal is to lose weight before the summer months hit, you have 12 weeks to make a meaningful difference. With a healthy rate of weight loss of about 1-2 pounds per week, you could lose between 12-24 pounds, although the scale is not the best way to gauge success. Still, if broken down in this way, your body could be remarkably different before the official summer months arrive. If your goal is to gain muscle tone, you can be well on your way to lean definition to show off as the temperatures rise.
There’s no better time to recommit to your resolutions than the season of renewal. Dedicate the time to take care of yourself and your body will be reward you with energy, strength, and a body that you can be proud of.
